Firewall/Proxy Server and Browser Specifications

  1. WONDA® features reside on IIS servers that are accessed through TCP port 80 using http through a browser.

  2. Port 443 must be open if using SSL.

  3. Microsoft® Internet Explorer™ version 6.0 service pack 2 or above.

  4. The WONDA functions that use HTTP require at least 5 concurrent connections. It has been our experience that some firewall authentication software has to be changed to accommodate this.

  5. Note: Personal firewall and filter programs such as the Windows XP firewall, Norton's Firewall (Internet Security), Zone Alarm, and Ad-Aware may block WONDA access to the Internet. To determine if your access is blocked by a personal firewall, try running WONDA with the firewall disabled. Please consult the help files or the manufacturer's manual for your personal firewall software for instructions on adding WONDA to the firewall's exception list.

If you have any questions regarding WONDA, please call WONDA Client Services at (800) 419-6632 or wonda@williamoneil.com

Installation Instructions

  1. Microsoft® Internet Explorer™ 6.0 SP2 or higher is required to run the WONDA application. The WONDA application has been written with Microsoft Development Tools. For this reason, certain component libraries that are needed are only available on Internet Explorer.

  2. WONDA 6.1 requires the Microsoft.net framework version 2.0. In addition WONDA 6.1 requires Microsoft® Visual C ++ redistributable (MFC 80). The InstallShield wizard will detect if this is not installed on the pc and will automatically load it. This can add up to 10 minutes to the installation time.

  3. Download WONDA 6.1 from the Internet by accessing the URL: http://wondacharts.williamoneil.com/wondahelp/install.htm.

  4. Please call WONDA Client Services for the installation password.

  5. Choose a Destination Directory for the software to be loaded. The program will default to "Oneil1" directory. Click on Browse to select another directory name/location if desired. Once WONDA 6.1 has been installed, the InstallShield Wizard will automatically detect the location of the initial 6.1 installation/upgrade when performing upgrades. In order to change this directory, the program must be uninstalled (using Add/Remove Programs) and reinstalled.

  6. When prompted for a user code and password, enter the user’s existing WONDA user code and password if not already entered. Once these fields are completed, click the "OK" button and this information will be saved. Note: The IP Address and Backup IP fields will automatically display wondacharts.williamoneil.com in both fields (any frame relay client should contact us for the IP addresses). The Multiple Monitor Set-up is used only if monitors are place vertically. Call WONDA Client Services at (800) 419-6632 for instructions on setting up this option.

  7. The "Work Offline" option should not be checked. This option is only selected when using the WONDA Application without connecting to the host in Los Angeles. This is often done when traveling. If the WONDA software is loaded on a notebook PC and the Work Offline option is selected, graphics that have been archived can be viewed without connecting to the host.

  8. The option "Use SSL" (Secure Sockets Layer) is a protocol developed for transmitting private information via the Internet. SSL works by using a private key to encrypt data that’s transferred over the SSL Connection. The following features use SSL; Data Monitors, Portfolios, Custom Screen Reports, User Profiles, Transactions and Notes.

  9. Double-click on the WONDA icon to launch the program.

  10. If any WONDA 6.1 features do not work please contact WONDA Client Services at (800) 419-6632.

FIREWALL SPECIFICATION: Port 80 must be open for outbound TCP.
